Junior Racquetball Program
Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club conducts a
Monday through Thursday junior racquetball program from 4-5:30 pm.
Generally, the age’s range from 8-18, depending on desire and
coordination. Our basic framework is four fold: teamwork, respect,
sportsmanship, and safety being paramount.
All kids who have the interest to learn a
fast paced exciting new sport may participate in our weekly program any or
all days of the week with the only prerequisite is participating in a
orientation (held monthly to our members) with emphasis on basic skills,
rules, stroke mechanics, and safety.
The weekly format of singles, cutthroat,
and doubles games are our staple, while we introduce varied court drills
highlighting a certain facet of racquetball (forehand, backhand, ceiling,
cross court, etc.) along with different types of games such as our
challenge ladder, speed gun competition, targets, “ace the parents” which
by the way is a one of the kid’s favorites, and monthly challenges with
other clubs who do have a racquetball program. All programs are supervised
by experienced instructors utilizing AmPRO (American Professional
Racquetball Organization) teaching techniques and philosophy.
Our fitness department also contributes
with racquetball specific conditioning classes such as core ball
exercises, ladder and step drills, plyometrics, and spinning.
Private and group lessons as well as lesson
packages for kids who want to seriously improve their game and compete on
a tournament level are available including video analysis.
The club’s racquetball department also
offers for all our members “play days” featuring different outings around
Placer County. Featured are bicycling, hiking, swimming, snorkeling,
kayaking and specific combinations of these activities. Wintertime
highlights snowshoeing, sledding, and learning basic cold weather survival
techniques. Detailed item lists for specific sports are also provided.
Safety and preparation are priorities in insuring your child has an
enjoyable and learning experience.
All parents who wish to accompany your
child in any of our programs are encouraged to participate!
Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club is fun, fitness, for everyone!
