Please email any questions to Program Director David Ray at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Membership at Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club is required, and is complimentary, as are all program activities described below. This program is open to ARFC members and non-members. Program requirements are as follows:

  • Must attend the Club to exercise a minimum of three times per week
  • Must participate in 1 Group Personal Training class each week
  • Must participate in 15 Group Fitness classes during the program
  • Must participate in 2 Cardio Tennis or Rookie Tennis classes during the program
  • Must participate in 1 Nutrition 101 Seminar during the program
  • Must write a 1000 word essay describing the benefits of health & fitness learned during the program, and what they will do to share those benefits with their local community

The 4 month program is designed to introduce the benefits of health & fitness to local High School Juniors & Seniors, and in turn ask them to share those benefits with their local community. A complimentary membership at Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club, the sponsor and venue for all of the activities, is included with the program. At the conclusion, each participant will write a 1000 word essay describing their experience, identifying the benefits of health and fitness, and describing what they will do to promote a healthy lifestyle within their community. The essays will be reviewed by school administrators and ARFC staff, and the winning applicant will receive a $2000 scholarship toward college or continuing education.

The essay must be a minimum of 1000 words in length and should describe two things. First, what their participation in the program has taught them about health & fitness and how those benefits have improved their lives. Second, what they plan to do to share those benefits with their local community. The essays will be reviewed by a panel made up of High School Administrators and ARFC Staff. Essays will be due by February 1, 2013.

Scholarship Program 2010/2011

ImageThe Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club has awarded Emily Jones, a local Placer High student, a $2000 Scholarship for her successful completion of the program, knowledge acquired and plans to share the mission of Health and Fitness to her family and the community.

The Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club has hosted a six-month scholarship program for Auburn high school juniors and seniors.

Requirements of the program included using the club and exercising a minimum of three times a week, participating in group personal training classes once a week, and participating in 20 group exercise classes, five cardio tennis classes and two nutrition seminars within the six months of the program.

All of the requirement and the Club membership were complimentary to all of the participating students.

ImageAt the end of the six month the participants were asked to write about the experiences and tools that they have gained during this Program.

The program was a success.  The students sweated and learned.  The winner of the scholarship has this to say about the program:

“This program (The ARFC Scholarship Program) has inspired me to live a healthier and more active (life).  I have learned so much through this program and I definitely plan on sharing what I learned with the Auburn Community.”
The winner was awarded a certificate and presented the $2000 scholarship check at the Placer High School Scholarship Awards presentation on May 25th, 2011.  Leonardo Schneiderman was there to present the scholarship to Emily Jones.
Leonardo Schneiderman presented the scholarship and reminded the audience of the commitment it took for Emily Jones and the other participants had to complete the program.

“I (Leonardo  Schneiderman) know the effort it took for all of the participants that were able to complete the program. The students that completed the program were able to manage their time well enough to not only use this opportunity to learn about how to live a healthy life but have also been able to succeed in their school's endeavors”.
“I (Leonardo Schneiderman) hope that everybody, no matter if they were able to finish the program, were able to make meaningful lifestyle changes and learned tools to use and to share with their families and their communities”.
