Group Fitness for Men…Really
Men, please toss aside the old perceptions of
aerobics, and come to the reality of what Group Fitness is all about. Most
classes are focused on multi-functional training—employed in sports such as
cycling, tennis, backpacking, soccer, running, jogging and golf. I know what
you are thinking: I need coordination to take a Group Fitness class. This is
not true for most of the combo classes on AR&FC’s schedule. The movements
are simple, easy to learn and focus more on core stability, speed, agility,
strength and balance than actual coordination. So You are safe to try a
class, and to feel successful doing so!
Suggested classes to try include Cycle,
Cycle-it/Pump-it, Ride and Sculpt, Cycle/Weights and Abs, Cycle with Weights
Intervals, PSCYCO, Full Body Workout, Step Boxing, Yoga and Pilates. Yes,
include Yoga and Pilates for flexibility, core stability, balance, muscle
balance and symmetry. See the article in September’s Men’s Journal: “Can
Real Men Do Pilates?” You will be surprised to see that Tiger Woods, Jason
Kidd, Troy Polamalu and Curt Shilling all practice Pilates as part of their
workout routine. If Yoga or Pilates is still not for you, try our Abs and
Back class on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 5:30 PM. So no more excuses;
try a class today!
New Class: Step Boxing
On Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM, Bonnie will
teach a kickboxing class with steps, bands, flappers and more. It is a
high-energy class using simple punching and kicking sequences and fun music.
Everyone can do this class. It will focus on balance, core stability,
strength, hand/eye coordination, timing, pace setting, endurance and
cardiovascular. It is a fun way to do cardio and to work the core!
